Privacy Policy
Last updated: 5 May 2026
ChippyKit ("we", "us", "our") is operated by MB3 Carpentry & Maintenance, an Australian sole trader business. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the ChippyKit app or website, how we use it, and how we protect it.
We follow the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), even though as a small business we're not strictly required to. We think it's the right thing to do.
What we collect
When you create a ChippyKit account, we collect:
- Your email address — used for account login and to send you important updates about the app
- Your password — stored securely (encrypted, never in plain text)
When you use the app, the following information is stored against your account:
- Calculator inputs and results you choose to save
- Job, quote, and invoice details you create — including any client names, site addresses, and amounts you enter
- Your in-app preferences and settings
If you purchase ChippyKit Pro or the founders deal, the payment is processed by Stripe, a global payment provider. Stripe collects your name, email, and payment details directly — we never see or store your card numbers. You can read Stripe's privacy policy at stripe.com/au/privacy.
How we use your information
We only use your information to:
- Provide the ChippyKit app and its features to you
- Process payments and provide receipts
- Send you essential account and product updates (e.g. when the app launches, or when there are important changes)
- Respond to support questions you send us
- Improve the app based on how it's actually used
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not send marketing emails unless you've explicitly asked us to.
Where your information is stored
Your account information and the data you create in the app is stored on cloud infrastructure managed by reputable third-party providers. We use industry-standard encryption to protect your data both in transit (when it travels between your device and our servers) and at rest (when it's stored on our servers).
Some of our service providers may store data outside Australia. By using ChippyKit, you consent to your information being transferred and stored in countries other than Australia, where data protection laws may differ. We only use providers who maintain strong data protection standards.
Who we share information with
We share your information only with the service providers we need to run the app:
- Stripe — payment processing
- Cloud hosting providers — for storing and serving the app
- Email delivery providers — for sending essential emails to you
We do not share your information with any other parties unless required by law (e.g. a valid legal request from Australian authorities).
Your data, your choice
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct any information that's wrong or out of date
- Delete your account and all associated data at any time
- Export your data in a portable format
To exercise any of these rights, email us at mb3constructions@gmail.com and we'll respond within a reasonable timeframe (usually within 7 days).
How long we keep your data
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we'll remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we're legally required to retain certain records (for example, financial records related to payments, which we keep for 7 years as required by Australian tax law).
Cookies and tracking
The ChippyKit website uses minimal tracking. We don't use third-party advertising cookies. We may use basic analytics to understand how visitors find and use the site (e.g. which pages get viewed), but this data is aggregated and not used to identify individual people.
Children's privacy
ChippyKit is designed for working tradespeople and is not directed at children under 16. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we'll delete it.
Data breaches
If a data breach occurs that's likely to result in serious harm to you, we'll notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as soon as practicable, in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll let you know by email or by a notice in the app. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page tells you when it was last changed.
